Description

Also called laurel, fresh bay leaves are similar to sage. They are an essential ingredient for flavoring soups, stocks, stews and vegetables as they provide an astringency that gives structure to a dish. Bay Leaves are also highly aromatic and, if used excessively, can lead to bitterness. When used with restraint, they add depth and finesse. Also great for tucking into roasting meats. Fresh bay leaves will release more flavor when shredded or chopped.
