"Pastina" is an Italian classification for tiny pieces of pasta including Orzo (shaped like flattened rice), Greek Peponaki (shaped like tiny melons) and the sphere-shaped Greek Couscous. At Misko, we have been making traditional Italian-style pasta in Greece since 1927. Couscous are a wonderful ingredient for soups - from homemade chicken or tomato soup to minestrone and Italian Wedding Soup. Work with MIsko Couscousaki as you would any tiny pasta: sauteed in butter or olive oil before adding your cooking liquid, or cooked al dente in boiling water. This delicious pasta will impart chewy goodness to side dishes and cold salads‚ and makes a wonderful base for a main meal. Couscous is a great component for stuffed veggies - like acorn squash - with sauteed onions, garlic, mushrooms and kale. Any recipe calling for orzo, rice, Israeli couscous or bulgur - including pilafs -‚ will shine with this petite pasta. And it's the perfect size for kids!
