Kore, also known as "phyllo" "jufka" or "fillo" are paper-thin sheets of unleavened dough traditionally used to make savory and sweet pastries and pies. If you grew up in the Balkans, the Mediterranean or the Middle East, the list of mouthwatering delicacies featuring this light and flaky dough is almost endless. If you love working with phyllo but are short on time, Black Bull Partially Baked Phyllo Sheets (Kore) are just the ingredient you'll need to make delicious appetizers, main courses and desserts. Our Kore are perfect for savory burek: phyllo-wrapped pastries or pies filled with cheese, spinach, potato and/or ground meat. And sweet burek: filled with fruit like cherries, blueberries or apples. Black Bull Partially Baked Kore is a wonderful dough for authentic Gibanica: savory pies made with a mixture of three cheeses, eggs and fresh herbs nestled between alternating layers of phyllo and baked until crispy and golden brown. Or use them for Prekmurska Gibanica, with layers of poppy seeds, walnuts, apple and raisins and cottage cheese or quark nested between delicate stacks of kore. Pita Zeljanica (spinach and feta pie), Pita Sirnica (cheese pie), Pita Krompiruša (potato and onion pie) or Tikvenica (a pumpkin or butternut squash pie) will all shine with Black Bull Partially Baked Phyllo Sheets. Baklava, phyllo wrapped baked brie, salmon or shrimp - or any recipe you can dream of that calls for phyllo will be delicious with our delicate pastry sheets! Black Bull Kore can be rolled, layered, folded and filled with the ingredients of your choosing. Because phyllo dough is low in fat and cholesterol, it is a healthy alternative to regular and puff pastry dough.
